LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — At least one person is dead and several people have been hospitalized after a four-vehicle crash on Monday morning.
According to Las Vegas police, the incident happened at 8:56 a.m. on S. Nellis Boulevard, south of E. Desert Inn Road.
Evidence at the scene, witnesses, and surveillance video indicated a 2021 Kia K5 was traveling northbound on Nellis Boulevard at a high rate of speed. Police said a 2012 Lexus ES350 was in a private driveway and made a turn onto northbound Nellis Boulevard and collided with the Kia. The impact pushed the Lexus into the side of a 2020 Honda Civic while the impact caused the Kia to cross over a raised median into the front of a Ram 2500 truck.
The 21-year-old driver of the Kia was taken to Sunrise Hospital where he later died.
The 56-year-old driver of the Lexus went to an urgent care facility to be treated for injuries.
The 30-year-old driver and two-year-old passenger from the Honda were taken to Sunrise Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The 59-year-old driver and 65-year-old passenger in the Ram were taken to Sunrise Hospital to be treated for claimed injuries.
All involved parties cooperated with the investigation and did not show signs of impairment.
The Kia driver's death marked the 81st traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2024.
