The Nevada Department of Transportation announced the new phase of Project Neon called "The Big Squeeze," which began Monday night.
NDOT is restricting U.S. 95 to two travel lanes in each direction between Rancho Drive and the Spaghetti Bowl interchange in Downtown Las Vegas. The 24/7 closures will remain in place for about 300 days.
Contractors are building a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) flyover structure that links U.S. Highway 95 with Interstate 15. Also, crews will redo one mile of U.S. 95 concrete pavement.
Other freeway closures include the following:
March 23 – June 21
U.S. Highway 95 Northbound / Rancho Drive Exit
The U.S. 95 northbound exit ramp to Rancho Drive will be closed for approximately 90 days.
March 24 – 27
Martin Luther King Boulevard / U.S. Highway 95
Martin Luther King Boulevard will be closed in both directions between Bonanza Road and U.S. 95 from 10 p.m., March 24, until 5 a.m., March 27, for bridge demolition.
Additionally, the Martin Luther King Boulevard onramp to U.S. 95 northbound will be closed, as well as the off-ramp.
NDOT recommends that commuters use surface streets to bypass traffic. Southbound traffic can use Valley View Boulevard, Decatur Boulevard, and Rancho Drive. Northbound travelers can use Las Vegas Boulevard or Eastern Avenue.
Downtown Las Vegas access will remain unaffected, and the Interstate 15 northbound to U.S. 95 northbound ramp exit to Rancho Drive will remain open.
