UPDATE: July 17, 2:32 p.m.
The Nevada State Police have identified 25-year-old Khari Qiyam Cooper of Las Vegas as the deceased victim involved in Saturday morning's crash.
The preliminary investigation by Nevada State Police said Cooper was driving a 2005 Bentley Continental sedan northbound on I-15 and then exited southbound on the transition ramp to US-95.
Investigators said Cooper was driving too fast as he made the curve. This caused him to exit the far-right travel lane and enter the left travel lane where he struck the right front of a 2020 Yellow International truck.
Cooper's vehicle then traveled across the left lane and into the left shoulder where he hit a concrete barrier, authorities said. The investigation said the sedan overturned as it struck the barrier and then hit a bridge pier before Cooper was ejected from his vehicle.
Investigators said Cooper's vehicle came to a rest on a shoulder north of the I-15 and US-95 southbound ramp. They said his vehicle was upright when it caught fire.
Authorities said when the truck was hit, it rotated and traveled across the left shoulder before striking a concrete barrier. It was then redirected south and came to rest on its wheels in the US-95 transition ramp lanes.
Investigators said Cooper succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
This is an ongoing investigation by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol - Southern Command M.I.R.T. (Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team).
