LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — For some people living in downtown, life isn't all that beautiful this weekend.

"My doctor was going to come Friday but I had to cancel because he won't be able to get through," says downtown resident, Cheryl Koski.

Several major roads in downtown are closed for the Life is Beautiful festival. Many of the closures started rolling out last week, leaving some people who live and work in downtown feeling trapped.

However, festival organizers and the city of Las Vegas have recently tried to make these closures a little easier for people in downtown.

"It happens in phases so that we're only impacting the roads that need to be impacted at any given time," says Jasmine Freeman, the special events administrator with the city of Las Vegas.

Since 2013, festival organizers have made some adjustments. They've given passes to downtown residents and added a shuttle service. The city of Las Vegas has even created a parking app called Park Me.
