Time-lapse of severe weather reports mesmerizes

Posted

The United States saw more severe thunderstorms than last year and more tornadoes than the  last three years.

Still, this was a quiet year for severe weather with fewer storms than the average.

Watching all the severe weather reports from an entire year go by in 20 seconds seems to draw you in with its deadly dance across the country, and the stats for the especially bad weather does all the more to highlight just how devastating Mother Nature can be.

Everyone's Storm Shield App may have gotten a reprieve by sending out fewer severe thunderstorm watches and warnings than normal in 2015, but 2016 is a whole new year.

Plus, there's an El Niño, and we already saw what happened around Christmas.
