LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Vegas Golden Knights are not only bringing fans to T-Mobile Arena; they are also bringing them to the sportsbooks.
Wednesday's opening season game between the Knights and rival Sharks is bringing in a record handle with it for a regular-season hockey game in Las Vegas.

"This has produced the biggest handle that we have ever seen for a Knights regular-season game, " said Jay Kornegay, executive vice president at Westgate Superbook. " The amount of money seen on this game certainly rivals a playoff game."
Kornegay's team was expecting a big turnout for opening night, but so far the numbers are exceeding expectations.

"We knew we were going to get some Knights money but didn't expect as much as we have seen," Kornegay said. " As the betting line got up to a -225 favorite."
The Knights enter the 2019 season off back-to-back playoff appearances and fans along with oddsmakers are expecting another solid year from the Vegas born team.

'We started the Knights point total at 101 points for the season. This number has been bet up to 103 points by the betting public - second only to the Tampa Bay Lightning," said Vinny Magliulo, South Point oddsmaker.
As Las Vegas continues to grow into a professional sports town sports wagering is also increasing with the Golden Knights leading the way.
"Teams coming to Las Vegas are going to only add to the excitement. The Raiders are popular, and so are the Knights - the Las Vegas community will heavily back both," Magliulo said.
