HENDERSON (KTNV) — Henderson is quickly turning into a hockey town.
The city will soon welcome the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights. Construction crews are already busy building two brand-new facilities in the city.
The Henderson Event Center will be the home of the Silver Knights starting in early 2022.
Lifeguard Arena will house first responders and youth hockey leagues.
Golden Knights owner Bill Foley is behind both projects. He says demand for youth hockey is so high, programs at City National Arena in Summerlin are booked.
"We did a study about [two years ago]," Foley said. "We learned about 35% of the kids playing hockey are coming from Henderson."
In this digital exclusive, Foley discusses the emergence of youth hockey and how the addition of the Silver Knights will help revolution Southern Nevada into hockey central.
