LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — One of the biggest soccer rivalries in the world could play out soon at Allegiant Stadium. The Washington Post is reporting that Barcelona vs. Real Madrid could be the first sporting event at the stadium.
The match would be part of the International Champions Cup, which is a preseason tournament for European soccer teams.
The rivalry between the 2 teams dates back to 1902 and the 2 matches each La Liga season are among the most highly anticipated in global soccer.
The match would take place this summer. If it happens at Allegiant Stadium, it would be first sporting event for the stadium.
Allegiant is one of several venues that is being considered in the United States. It is scheduled to be completed by July 31.
