LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The entertainment capital of the world has been at a standstill because of the pandemic, but that doesn’t mean local entertainers aren’t holding out hope for an even bigger comeback.
“Sometimes I catch myself on stage... I can't believe I got here because I dressed up as Britney on Halloween,” said Derrick Barry a longtime Las Vegas performer and Britney Spears impersonator.
Being on stage is part of his daily routine until the pandemic forced shows to close up.
“It's a little scary knowing that it is unknown,” Barry said.
He believes performers should take this time to relax their muscles and vocal cords because he thinks once the entertainment is back it will be bigger and better than ever before.
“People are going to have craved a moment to come back and enjoy themselves in the adult entertainment capital of the world,” predicts Barry.
And he is excited to get back on stage and perform in the city that launched his career.
“It's pretty crazy that this was a place for my dreams to come true," he said. "I always thought it would be Hollywood or New York. I never even thought of Vegas,”
“Celebrity impersonations are what brought me here and it's definitely what kept me here for sure.”
Derrick performs in RuPaul’S Drag Race Live at the Flamingo and is set to return on Jan. 28.
