LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Retirement communities are doing more outreach this year to curb isolation during the holidays. Many organizations are determined to deliver support for seniors.

Meals On Wheels is a well-known group delivering food year-round, but their services are in especially high demand during the pandemic and this Thanksgiving.

74-year-old Donna Stotler says little things like a special meal mean so much when you can't visit family.

"We're going to miss having the kids," said Stotler. "If I sit and think about it sometimes, I get kind of sad because we're not together."

"So it's kind of like being homesick," she added.

Some groups are even delivering food for pets, who are playing a critical role in some senior homes.
