LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — As people head out to explore the outdoors this weekend, park officials are asking visitors to plan ahead for the high temperatures.

One of the popular locations within the park is the Historic Railroad Trail.

The 7.5-mile-round-trip National Recreation Trail leads hikers through five historic railroad tunnels that were used during the construction of the Hoover Dam.

People can also hike four miles roundtrip to Lake Mead. The two miles back to the car are the hardest, uphill with no shade, no restrooms and no water.
