LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — We're all being reminded the importance of wearing a mask wherever we go. We also need to practice social distancing and wash our hands. But sometimes it still doesn't feel like enough. 13 Action News anchor Tricia Kean tells us about a new valley company offering extra protection in hopes of providing you with peace of mind.
99.9% EFFECTIVE
Gold Service Sanitation is protecting valley businesses and homes with Zoono -- a protective shield that kills viruses.
"It dries in 10 to 20 minutes. Once it dries it's 99.9% effective against COVID-19 as well as many other viruses," says Gary Gray, Vice President at Gold Service.

NO POISONS
It also protects against SARS, norovirus, E. coli and salmonella. Gray says the spray forms an antimicrobial shield that bonds to surfaces, is water-based and food safe.
"There's no poisons in it. There's no alcohol used in the product. There's no poisons used to kill the virus," says Gray.
REPELS MICRO PARTICLES
Best of all, he claims the sanitizer protects surfaces for up to 30 days.

"This technology is still fairly new but there is good data behind using it and the fact that once it's on the surface it does do a fairly good job of repelling microparticles," says Dr. Christina Madison with Roseman University of Health Sciences.
NOT REPLACEMENT FOR PREVENTATIVE CARE
She says this is a good extra layer of protection. But people need to remember the greatest threat of transmitting COVID-19 is person to person.
"This is not a replacement for our other preventative care measures which would include wearing a face covering, hand washing and making sure you're disinfecting those surfaces on a regular basis," says Dr. Madison.
