LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Rising COVID-19 cases are making it hard for the travel industry to rebound right now.
The U.S. Travel Association says the pandemic will cost American travel companies $505 billion just this year.
The first impact was on the spring break travel season.
Travel agent Tom Karnes says bookings picked up slightly in June.
But outbreaks in popular vacation spots like Florida and California have once again brought business to a halt.
Karnes says he spends most of his time now helping clients get their money back.
If your travel plans changed due to COVID-19, Karnes says travel companies who cancel on you are required by law to give you a full refund.
But, if you cancel, you'll probably face some cancellation fees.
The good news is, many airlines and cruises are offering credits and vouchers for future travel.
