LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Clark County School District is celebrating National School Breakfast Week by providing free breakfast for all CCSD students.

CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara made the promise of free breakfast during his State of the Schools address last month. Starting March 2, all students will enjoy free breakfast for the rest of the school year.

The district hopes giving students a healthy breakfast will lead to better grades and behaviors in the classroom.

CCSD says the federal government is paying for the meals through subsidies, calling the program "self-sustaining."

Supt. Jara will join representatives from the food service at Hayes Elementary School on Tuesday to celebrate the start of the new program.

Lunch is still priced at $2 for elementary school students and $3.25 for secondary students.

Parents can check daily menus here.
