LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Forget a 5K, one woman is challenging herself to run 1K.
1,000 miles, that is.
Rose McCarty was in the Las Vegas area over the weekend for RunRoseRun, a city tour across the U.S. to raise support, donations, and awareness for at-risk youth.
McCarty says she plans to visit 15 cities and run an average 100 miles per week for a total of 1,000 miles over the course of two months.
All donations raised will go to Covenant House and Good Sports, she says, two organizations that focus on at-risk youth and were forced to cancel 2020 fundraising events due to COVID-19.
So far, McCarty has clocked more than 350 miles.
She started in San Antonio and now she's leaving Las Vegas for San Diego to run along the coast.
