The 38th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in downtown Las Vegas is happening on Monday beginning at 10 a.m. We will update this story throughout the day with sights and sounds from the event, so make sure to check back for updates.

SIGHTS AND SOUNDS FROM DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS:

1:01 P.M.

12:30 P.M.
These kids have some serous dance moves and muscle strength!

10:36 P.M.
Mayor Carolyn Goodman and former Mayor Oscar Goodman were escorted in a pink convertible driven by non other than Elvis Presley, of course.

10:05 A.M.
And so it begins!

9:55 A.M.
Roads are blocked off in downtown Las Vegas as the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade prepares to kick off!

9:17 A.M.
North Las Vegas police are hanging out downtown today, getting ready to enjoy the parade.

ROUTE:
The parade will start on Fourth Street and Gass Avenue in downtown Las Vegas, then head North on Fourth Street to Ogden (where it will conclude). The parade will disburse on Fourth Street and Stewart.

ROAD CLOSURES:
Road closures will start at 5 a.m. and roads will reopen at 4 p.m.

Major closures: 4th Street from Charleston Boulevard to Stewart Avenue and all side streets in between. Please note, staging is on Coolidge, Hoover and Gass avenues from Casino Center to Las Vegas Boulevard.
