A local mother, who lost everything in a fire, got the gift of a lifetime Friday.
Thanks to Walker Furniture, her entire home was furnished just in time for the holidays.
"I don't know what to say I don't know what to think," said Faye Torres.
Torres has spent the last month sharing an air mattress with her 5-year-old daughter and fiance. The family lost everything after a fire broke out while Torres' daughter and fiance were at home.
"The first thing that pops in my head is if I'm going to see her," Torres explained.
According to Torres, her fiance and daughter had to jump from their balcony. Although her daughter wasn't hurt, her fiance had a brutal injury when he landed head first.
"It's been very rough...very rough," Torres said.
A month before the fire, Torres was dealing with the pain of the 1 October shooting where she lost an uncle and aunt.
Her heartache and struggle were seen by friends, including a co-worker who wrote a letter on behalf of Torres nominating her for Walker Furniture's Home for the Holidays.
"For them to think of you like that, that's love right there," Torres said as she wiped tears.
Torres' home was fully furnished, and she also received gifts from the Las Vegas Rescue Mission and a Christmas tree from Star Nursery.
Walker Furniture plans to donate to over 30 families this holiday season.
