On Saturday, 700 of Las Vegas' top influencers and community members attended Dessert Before Dinner, a fundraising gala hosted by the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada.

Female Las Vegas chefs competed to incorporate this year's chosen Girl Scout cookie, Caramel deLites, into a signature dessert of their own.

Chefs Denise Elliott and Kimberly Vitou from MGM Resorts International took top honors with "Camp Cake in a Can." The dessert was served atop a faux campfire and logs and featured warm chocolate cake, Caramel deLite crumble, toasted coconut ice cream, and salted caramel sauce, all served in an aluminum can.

Chef Elizabeth Stolarick from Wynn Resorts was the runner-up in the competition, while Chef Michelle Flores from Caesars Palace took third place.

Guests also enjoyed the evening's signature cocktail, "Oh What a Girl Can Do!" created by Francesco Lafranconi, Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits Executive Director of Mixology.

During the gala, the city's most admired and respected women were honored with honorary badges, selected based on their own professional and philanthropic achievements. They include:

  • Diana Bennett, Trailblazing badge
  • Carrie Carter Cooper, Think Big badge
  • Tami Hance, Leadership badge
  • Sonia McTaggart-Anderson, Financial Literacy badge
  • Winnie Schulman, Philanthropist badge
  • Florence Shapiro, Entrepreneur badge
  • Rosemary Vassiliadis, Science and Technology badge

Proceeds from the gala help fund scholarships, and allow the organization to expand upon current programmings such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), social values, and financial literacy.
