LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Not just toddlers or infants... Across the U.S., thousands of kids over the age of 10 are available for adoption. Like today’s Wednesday’s Child -- 12-yr-old Heavenly. She’s her own person, but also wants her own family.
Professional cakemaker Korey Wells of Whiskful Thinking Cake came prepared to teach decorating to Heavenly and found a very capable, willing, and artistic kitchen helper
Heavenly can be a little quiet at first, but there’s a wonderful personality just under the surface.
“She can be a little withdrawn at first, a little quiet. And when you get to know her, this flower opens up and this personality comes out and she's sweet and she's faithful and like loyal. So when she gets to know you and you gain some trust with her, she's probably the best, most loyal kid I've seen,” says Becky Robinson, a Department of Family Services adoption recruiter.
Heavenly has had brushes with adoption in her years as a foster child, but Family Services believes it’s her time now
“She's been through some really hard things, but now she's in an amazing spot in her life. Like she's at an age where I just feel like we can really find the right match for her and she's going to just blossom. She's going to do well,” adds Robinson.
And Heavenly has some clear ideas about her next family...
“I do want like some siblings, like maybe a brother…and like a sister too, ‘cause I don’t wanna be the only girl…and I do like animals, I want a dog,” says Heavenly.
Heavenly likes to keep busy, she has lots of friends, sings at her church, and either wants to be a dancer, or…”I want to like work with hair, but I want to be a cosmetologist, and I want to have my own list,” says the 12-yr-old.

“Oh, you get an amazing kid. Everybody that has cared for Heavenly or been on her team has loved her. She has a genuine personality,” says Robinson.
