Preschoolers learn about going green with fashion show

Posted

Tissue boxes as shoes and plastic bags as headbands - these Henderson kids are learning that anything they would usually throw away can be repurposed.

It's part of the Goddard School's Earth Week, where preschoolers are learning to go green.

On Friday the kids held a fashion show using only recycled items. On the same day, every Goddard School across the country turned their lights off for one hour, saving millions of watts of energy.

Teachers at the school say that by teaching about going green at a young age, they hope to create a ripple effect through the rest of the community.

"They are going to want to go home and do things in their own community, and hopefully they'll get their community and their families to recycle," said Samantha Wasylkowski, an education specialist for the Goddard School.
