After a recent soft opening, Peet's Coffee is officially open for business in Summerlin.
The California-based coffee chain set up its first location in the Las Vegas valley at 10595 Discovery Drive, near Town Center Drive and the 215 beltway.
Peet's Coffee got its start in Berkeley, California in 1966. The company is known for creating artisan coffee in small batches. They also have Fair Trade sourced coffee beans, meaning that fair prices are paid to those in developing countries. Peet's also uses solar tube skylights to illuminate the building, which helped the coffee shop earn a LEED Gold Certification for energy efficiency.
The new store is owned by longtime Las Vegas residents Deanna Riccardi and her husband Brad. They're hoping that Peet's Coffee can use its resources to help the local community.
"We are committed to community involvement and participating in events that make a difference, such as our sponsorship of organizations like Breakaway Cycling which provides bikes and helmets to kids in need. We also support the annual cycling event Tour de Summerlin," said Deanna."
Both Deanna and Brad hope to open more locations in the Las Vegas valley in the near future.
