LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Clark County School District students are out of school for the summer, but one program is getting 4-year-olds prepared to start kindergarten for free.
Waterford UPSTART is a no-cost, at-home kindergarten readiness project that prepares preschool-age children for kindergarten, according to its website.
The program teaches kids math, science, along with reading skills from home and interactive games.
Representatives said the program is being offered to 200 local families.
"It's so much more effective to be able to reach children early, to get them the skills that they need to be ready to raise their hand and participate in the classroom," said Isaac Toroyo, with Waterford UPSTART.
The project reported 92 percent of kids who participate in the program are ready for kindergarten.
