Vegas Helps, a nonprofit organization formed to facilitate locals helping locals in need, has launched with a $200,000 seed donation.

The 501(c)3 organization was founded by local entrepreneur and philanthropist Justin Woo.

The organization’s online platform allows anyone in need to submit their requests for support.

The public can also easily contribute online and donors will be updated on acts of kindness as they are made based on their contributions.

Apollo Interactive, an award-winning interactive marketing and advertising firm Woo co-founded in Los Angeles, provided Vegas Helps’ initial donation.

Woo moved to Southern Nevada nearly six years ago and said he met many individuals who wanted to help others, but didn’t know how.

Woo estimates the organization’s Acts of Kindness will have values that average around $500, so with the $200,000 initial donation, it can already fund hundreds of requests.

Vegas Helps kicked off its launch with a holiday gift donation for every child being treated by Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, Nevada’s only pediatric cancer treatment center and facility for childhood catastrophic diseases.

Cure 4 The Kids recently launched a “Keep It Local” campaign, designed to educate Nevadans about their donations to nonprofit organizations, and to encourage the public to support those fundraising efforts that keep funds collected in Nevada in our state to help Nevada’s children.
