The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's K9 fund just received a huge boost.
On Friday, Nevada senator Mark Manendo, Cathy Brooks of the Hydrant Club and the Nevada Injury Prevention Program gave the organization nearly $6,000.
It was raised in honor of K9 Nicky. Some of the money will be used to buy protective vests. K9 Nicky died in a shootout last month.
Students at Veterans Tribute High School also collected money and supplies in Nicky's memory.
They will be donating those funds to the SPCA of Las Vegas.
