34th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade
MGM Resorts International will be the presenting sponsor of the 34th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in downtown Las Vegas. The event is hailed as one of the nation's most popular annual parades honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King.

This year's theme of the parade is “Living the Dream: The Movement Continues.”

The parade will start at Fourth Street, head north on Fourth Street to Ogden, where it concludes, and disburse on Fourth Street immediately north of Stewart Avenue.
 
The RTC will have various route detours in place. Detours will run from approximately 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. due to street closures in downtown Las Vegas during the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade. Impacted transit routes include: Route 109 – Maryland Parkway, Route 113/MAX – Las Vegas Boulevard North, Route 207 – Alta/Stewart, Route 208 – Washington, Route 215 – Bonanza, Centennial Express (CX), Downtown & Veterans Medical Center Express (DVX), Boulder Highway Express (BHX), Henderson & Downtown Express (HDX), Westcliff Airport Express (WAX), and Deuce on the Strip.
 
National parks throughout the country will honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. All national parks will provide free admission for all visitors and many parks will host special events or volunteer service projects. Parks include Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area, Great Basin National Park and Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
 
2016 MLK community lunch for the less fortunate

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Special at Charlie’s Market Buffet on Jan. 18. Lunch from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Dinner from 4-8 p.m. All ace | PLAY card members are eligible for a $5 lunch and dinner buffet in honor of Martin Luther King Day. Everyone in the dining party must have their own ace | PLAY card to dine for $5 in the newly remodeled Charlie’s Market Buffet. Regular buffet prices apply to non-ace | PLAY card members and children.
