The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department will hold its annual Southern Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial at Police Memorial Park on May 19 at 7 p.m.
The ceremony is a multi-agency event that pays tribute to the 34 local law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty from 1905 to the present.
The following agencies are represented at the memorial: the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Henderson Police Department, North Las Vegas Police Department, Nevada Department of Corrections, Union Pacific Railroad, United States Marshal Service, and the Nye County Sheriff’s Office.
Speakers at the event include Sheriff Joseph Lombardo, City of Las Vegas Councilman Stavros Anthony and Undersheriff Kevin McMahill as Master of Ceremonies.
Weather-permitting, the ceremony will end with a release of illuminated balloons at sunset.
This event is free and open to the public.
