LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — After her owner tragically passed from COVID-19, 8-year-old Bella, a small Schnauzer mix, was surrendered to Heaven Can Wait Animal Society’s Pups on Parole program.

UPDATE: Las Vegas dog who lost owner to COVID-19 gets new family

This program is specifically meant to save dogs who are more at risk for euthanasia in a shelter, and Bella’s age makes her “less adoptable.”

Despite her whole world being turned upside down, Bella has been nothing but sweet and affectionate with the staff at Heaven Can Wait. It became clear that despite her age, she would make a loving addition to any family.

Soon, the medical staff at this local nonprofit organization identified a major health issue: bladder stones so severe that they threatened her life. Bella has been suffering silently for years, and urgent lifesaving surgery is required now if she is to survive.

Heaven Can Wait is doing everything it can to provide Bella with the best medical care and to see her through this health crisis.

If everything goes well, she will be available for adoption after she recovers.

In the meantime, financial support at any level would make a huge impact as Heaven Can Wait takes on necessary – and costly – veterinary treatment.
