LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The grand opening of the new Officer Alyn Beck Memorial Park on Brent Lane in the northwest part of the valley is happening Jan. 31.
Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman, Governor Steve Sisolak, Mayor Pro Tem Michele Fiore, Olympia Companies CEO and President Garry Goett, Sheriff Joe Lombardo, various city officials, dignitaries and more will be in attendance at a ceremony at 10 a.m.
The new 10-acre park, funded by Olympia Companies, the developer of Skye Canyon and built by Rafael Construction, features a lacrosse field, soccer fields, basketball court and a shaded playground with benches for families.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Alyn Beck was killed in the line of duty June 8, 2014. Officer Igor Soldo was also killed. The police officers were having lunch at CiCi's Pizza near Stewart Avenue and Nellis Boulevard when they were shot by Jerard and Amanda Miller.

The couple then ran into a neighboring Walmart where they killed a civilian named Joseph Wilcox, 31, who tried to stop them.
The couple eventually died during a gunfight with other officers.
Huckleberry Park on Farm Road near Hualapai was previous dedicated to Igor Soldo.
