North Las Vegas libraries expand services

The North Las Vegas Library District now offers free online tutoring and educational services for patrons of all ages.

The Library District recently subscribed to Brainfuse, a leader in online tutoring and educational assistance. Residents of North Las Vegas now have full access to numerous new services, free with a registered North Las Vegas library card.

Among the services available:

• Live homework help: Between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m., students can interact with live tutors to receive help with a wide range of state and Common Core-aligned subjects, including math, science, reading and writing.

• Skill surfer: An extensive library of lessons, video tutorials and practice tests now is available to help users prepare for a variety of exams, including the SAT, ACT, GED, GRE, HiSET, TASC, TOEFL, ASVAB, COMPASS/ACCUPLACER and more.

• Writing lab: Users can become better writers by receiving expert analysis of their papers and projects, complete with constructive comments and tips for improvement.

• Leap learning platform: Patrons can master basic academic skills through diagnostic tests, customized study plans, lessons, video tutorials and live tutoring.

• Adult Learning Center: The Adult Learning Center, designed for adult learners, offers test preparation (including for high school equivalency exams and U.S. citizenship tests), a writing lab, study tools and an academic skills center featuring live, online tutors.
