Melinda Sheckells, lifestyle and entertainment expert and editor of OffTheStrip.com shares recommendations on what to eat and drink this week in Las Vegas.
Tasty Tuesday takes a bite out of one of the best new Las Vegas restaurant additions of 2019, which is offering some delicious deals. Majordōmo Meat & Fish, located off The Palazzo casino floor at The Venetian Resort, is extending their special weekly menus at through the end of November.
The modern steakhouse by David Chang, who recently came to town to celebrate the release of his memoir Eat A Peach, offers a diverse range of Asian and American food traditions and the Sunday Smokehouse is a special night of chef’s choice barbecue. The menu features three proteins along with three sides and one dessert for $45. Meats include chicken wings, whole chickens, pork ribs, pork shoulders, sausage, pork belly, short ribs and beef brisket. For sides, choose from potato salad, coleslaw, French fries, mashed potatoes, collard greens, corn pudding, corn bread, hush puppies, King’s Hawaiian rolls, macaroni and seasonal fruit. Add to the experience with a cocktail from the classic tableside-service cart.
Major Monday is the opportunity to discover new favorites on the wine list at a 30 percent discount, accompanied by oak-grilled meats. Enjoy a dozen wine selections by the glass, or more than a hundred available by the bottle. Break out of your wine comfort zone by experimenting with “orange wines” or “amber wines,” also known as Skin-Contact White Wines.
There is a new booze in town and it is called Fistful of Bourbon. Inspired by the kitschy cool imagery of spaghetti western films, this new spirit from William Grant & Sons Master Blender Brian Kinsman is 100 percent straight American bourbon. This is the first from-the-ground-up American whiskey from the portfolio. Fistful is a blend of five straight bourbons—literally a fistful. If you love brown spirits or even if you are new and curious this refined booze is great neat or in a cocktail. Relish in the smooth taste that is green and leafy with floral notes on the palate, plus languish in the warm spice with hints of nutmeg and notes of notes of buttery toffee with hints of cinnamon and licorice.
Fistful of Bourbon is now widely available and costs $24.99 for 750ml and $1.99 for 50ml. Fistful of Bourbon is also available for home delivery or gifting via Drizly.
