Melinda Sheckells, Las Vegas lifestyle and entertainment expert, shares recommendations on what to try this week and what’s happening around town in the realm of dining and drinking.

For something sweet, try the new Dole Whip cocktails at Black Tap in The Venetian. Everyone’s favorite summertime frozen pineapple treat gets a boozy boost. Order up the Raspberry Lime Margarita with Casamigos blanco, Aperol, lime juice, raspberry Dole Whip and makrut lime or the Mimosa with Kendall Jackson Chardonnay, Absolut Vodka, orange Dole Whip and blood orange. Both are $15 and the perfect complement to Black Tap’s burgers and sandwiches. Two favorites on the menu are the juicy Bison burger with fresh mozzarella, arugula, shaved parmesan, roasted tomato and pesto mayo and the equally plump crispy chicken sandwich with buttermilk coleslaw, cilantro, fresh lime, spicy mayo and Korean barbecue sauce.

For a socially distanced day of fun in the sun, visit locals favorite the Crimson Pool at Red Rock Resort. Guests 21 and older can beat the heat poolside and enjoy the craft cocktail menu and gourmet food selection, along with the sounds of DJ Ricco from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Must orders include pitchers of the spicy pineapple margarita and cucumber mint cooler, the shrimp ceviche duo, the clean and healthy spinach omelet, the buffalo cauliflower wrap and the jerk chicken sandwich. Cabana reservations are also available, starting at $250 per day, which include assorted dry snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, a fruit plate and seating for up to six guests.

Celebrate Bastille day on July 14, at Mon Ami Gabi in Paris Las Vegas with specials that commemorate France’s history and food culture. The menu offers chilled gazpacho with avocado and basil oil, crispy frog legs, classic seafood bouillabaisse and tri-color profiteroles with blueberry sorbet and vanilla and strawberry ice cream. Order up French favorites from the regular dining menu to round out the meal.
