The city of North Las Vegas celebrated its 70th birthday with an event Sunday.

Fiesta CNLV and the first concert of the 2016 Tastes, Tunes & ‘Toons Series took place in front of North Las Vegas City Hall.

The multi-ultural festival in North Las Vegas' downtown corridor is a celebration of the diverse cuisine, music and cultures of the residents of North Las Vegas.

Israel Cabañas, known as "El Charro Noble" (The Noble Cowboy), a semi-finalist on "Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento" ("I Have Talent, A Lot of Talent"), headlined the event. Mariachi Perla de Mexico and Las Vegas-based El Moreno Carrillo y su banda also performed.

The event featured a parade, coordinated by Latina television personality Janet Revere, and performances by Danzo Del Carrizo and Brinco del Chinelo, as well as native Aztec dance, Brazilian dance and Batucada and Capoeira demonstrations. Contestants from Nevada beauty pageants were also set to appear.

There was also a car show and children’s activities.

The event was postponed in April due to weather.
