The Nevada Women’s Film Festival (NWFFest) will be held the last weekend of March in the state-of-the-art Big Springs Theater at the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd.
The four-day festival, which takes place annually in honor of Women’s History Month, kicks off at the new luxury Eclipse Theater downtown with the panel event: Finding our Voices: Diversity and Inclusion in the Film and Television Industry. This discussion will be moderated by UNLV Film Department Chair Dr. Heather Addison, and will be followed by a screening of local indie feature The Track, directed by Brett Caroline Levner.
A diverse and exciting selection of films from Nevada and around the globe will be screened throughout the festival. We are pleased to announce a special showing of the critically acclaimed A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, self-described as the “first Iranian Vampire Spaghetti Western” by break out director Ana Lily Amirpour. The screening will take place on Saturday, March 25th at 4:00pm followed by a moderated discussion and Q&A session with the filmmaker herself.
NWFFest will conclude Sunday night with the Femmy Awards, a ceremony honoring our most outstanding filmmakers. This year we are excited to announce the award for Nevada Woman Filmmaker of the Year goes to accomplished producer, May May Luong.
Festival Founder and Executive Director Nikki Corda is proud of the festival’s growth. “Since its inception as a modest idea for a local student event, NWFFest has grown into an international festival which champions diversity and the great achievements of women filmmakers while highlighting the vibrant creative community of Nevada.”
