Call it vintage altruism. Lutheran Services of Southern Nevada, a nonprofit aiming to prevent local homelessness and break the cycle of poverty, will hold its annual wine tasting gala May 8.

The gala, running 5-8 p.m. at The Sparklings, 8310 S. Rainbow Blvd., will feature a tasting of fine wines, gourmet appetizers and both a silent and live auction. Proceeds will fund Lutheran Services of Southern Nevada’s empowerment-centered, hunger-fighting programs, including the DigiMart digital client choice food pantry, Open Air Markets, Senior Supportive Services, and rental assistance.

Annual fundraisers including the wine tasting help Lutheran Services of Southern Nevada serve more than 10,000 people and families annually. The organization has served more than 244,000 Southern Nevadans since its founding in 1985.

Tickets are $75 and are for sale online at www.lssnv.org/shop.
