Lee Canyon announced for the first time this season, its skate ramp will open July 31.
The "mini" skate ramp draws people of all ages and ability levels though it is the perfect place for kids and adults to learn. During the heat of the summer, the mini ramp is a fun way for seasoned local skateboarders to spend an afternoon.
The skate ramp is in the base area, and there is no charge to use it though skaters must bring their equipment.
Lee Canyon is open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day.
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Las Vegas this weekend, where temperatures near The Strip may reach 113 degrees.
The facility's base area is at 8,510 feet above sea level, and temperatures are expected to be in the high 70s Friday through Sunday, with overnight lows in the upper 50s. Cool mountain breezes will roll off of Lee Peak that stands 11,289 feet, so visitors should pack accordingly.
