LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — It's hard to believe it's taken 16 years for Jimmy Kimmel to bring his show to the Las Vegas Strip, not far from the Spring Valley neighborhood he grew up in.
“There's that second tear of people you went to 8th grade with that I get a kick out of seeing. It's like a giant high school reunion," Kimmel said.
Soon, Jimmy's friends and fans will see more from Las Vegas on his popular ABC show as he is opening The Jimmy Kimmel Comedy Club at the Linq Promenade this June.
“We will have comedians from the club on the show from Vegas. So, it will be a simulcast from Las Vegas," Kimmel said.
When Kimmel looks back on his years growing up in Vegas a few of the local TV commercials he also said he could not forget. Like The Jewelers Of Las Vegas commercial featuring owner Mordechai and boxer Larry Holmes.
"His commercials were always a real knockout," Kimmel said.
His quick wit and sense of humor have put him on the national stage for years now, but he admits his early years of the show weren't always easy.
“It was stressful, and I was terrible at it, and I was hoping it was canceled. There was a time when I was like I hope they cancel this because I can't do this anymore." he said.
Kimmel has come a long way, and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" continues Monday through Friday on ABC starting at 11:35 p.m.
