Cox Business and the Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce Nevada (GLCCNV) have announced an entrepreneurial prize competition for current or future small business owners, which will award two $5,000 prizes to winners in Nevada.

Applications are available now via the GLCCNV website and are due for consideration by 5 p.m. by March 19. The two prizes will include “The Big Idea” grant and a business entrepreneur educational scholarship.

Applicants must be members of the GLCCNV.

“The Big Idea” $5,000 entrepreneurial grant from the GLCCNV and Cox Business is designed to offer financial assistance to help launch a big idea. The grant is intended to support creativity, growth and the entrepreneurial spirit. The GLCCNV/Cox Business Entrepreneur Educational $5,000 Scholarship will offer financial assistance to help a current or future small-business owner with an investment in business education.

The scholarship can be used to cover any education-related expenses.

The grant and scholarship recipients will also receive mentoring support from prominent leaders within Nevada’s LGBTQ+ business community and Cox Business.

According to Cox Business Vice President Derrick Hill, partnering with the GLCCNV will help small business owners improve their leadership skills through the business education scholarship and develop innovation through the big idea grant, while reflecting Cox’s commitment to building and nurturing a culture of inclusion, diversity and equity.
