The City of Henderson’s Community Development and Services Department recently received two awards for its work on the Southern Nevada Strong (SNS) regional planning project from the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) Las Vegas Chapter at its recent Pinnacle Awards ceremony. Pinnacle awards recognize the best public relations programs, tools and professionals in Southern Nevada.
The city took home a Pinnacle Award – the highest PRSA honor – in the community relations category for its outreach campaign during the three-year SNS planning project, as well as an Award of Excellence in the online video category for its animated video “Our Valley, Our Vision, Our Future,” which explains the benefits of planning in a fun and understandable way.
SNS, the valley’s first federally recognized regional plan, is a collaborative effort to create and sustain neighborhoods where residents can have access to quality education, a variety of housing choices, good-paying jobs and transportation options. SNS provides a blueprint for improving economic competitiveness and education, investing in complete communities and increasing transportation alternatives.
Consultants who provided services to the SNS initiative include Purdue Marion & Associates, Sumnu Marketing and the Ramirez Group.
