City Council to recognize National Adoption Day

The Las Vegas City Council will recognize National Adoption Day at the Nov. 16, City Council meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. in City Hall council chambers, located at 495 S. Main Street.
 
Mayor Goodman will present a proclamation for National Adoption Day to the Adoption Exchange, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Mayor Goodman adopted all four of her children.
 
Also, Councilman Steven D. Ross will recognize Emilee Moody, a teen who started Generation On, a student-driven service group with a mission to inspire, equip and mobilize youth to take action through service.
 
Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian will recognize centenarian Alisha Georgeaide, who has been an active community member.
 
Finally, the City Council will recognize Nancy Byrne, a senior producer-writer at KCLV Channel 2, as the city’s Employee of the Month. Nancy produced and hosted a half-hour special called Bullying: Ending The Torment. It gained the attention of local school administrators and students, and she was invited to speak on the impacts of bullying.
