It is only legal to use fireworks starting Tuesday through next Monday, July 4, at 11:59 p.m.
Inspectors spent the day Tuesday making sure booths were selling so-called "safe and sane" fireworks and not ones that are aerial or exploding.
"We urge that everyone soak them in water overnight," said Amanda Wildermuth, Clark County fire inspector. "We have had fireworks that have been in water for an hour or so and then they relight after they take them out and put them in the trash."
County inspectors planned to issue 140 permits for the booths.

"Everyone waits until the last minute and at 11:59 we shut down no matter what but we're doing good so far, keeping our fingers crossed," said Ruth Best, of the Las Vegas Neon Soccer Club.
