Small Business Saturday is Nov. 28 and several businesses in the Las Vegas valley will be participating.
Small Business Saturday was first observed in 2010 and is a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which focus on big-box retailers and online shopping. A recent Yelp + Harris Poll survey found that 64 percent of American adults will shop local this holiday season. They also came up with a list of the top 20 cities for shopping local and Las Vegas came in at number 20.
In downtown Las Vegas, the Writer's Block will celebrate Small Business Saturday and their first anniversary by offering 15 percent off all books and a complimentary gift with purchase.
At 11th Street Records, patrons can enjoy an old-fashioned sidewalk sale with any purchases over $100 receiving a 15 percent discount.
And from 10 to 11:30 a.m., individuals and their dogs can stop by Hydrant Club Santa Paws to get a free photo of Santa with their furry friends. Owners looking to shop at other downtown small businesses can take advantage of Hydrant Club’s daycare services with special half-day pricing of $15. All dogs must have proof of current vaccination records.
In addition, the Downtown Lip Smacking Tour is offering 10 percent off on Saturday. The lively, informative outing starts at 5 p.m. and is two and a half hours of eating and exploring at downtown’s most magnetic, chef-driven restaurants that are all about farm-to-table, seasonally-focused and artisan-crafted fare. Price is $125, including guide, cost of food and gratuities.
Over at the Container Park, YELP Las Vegas will be handing out shopping bags and food and drink discount wristbands from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a long list of discounts that can be found on Small Business Saturday at the Container Park on East Fremont Street. Click here to see them all.

There will be a cupcake station and hot cocoa bar plus an arts and crafts area for kids and a free gift with purchase.
