LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Bass Pro Shops has opened registration for its US Open National Bass Fishing Amateur Team Championship qualifying event at Lake Mead near Las Vegas.
Lake Mead will host 250 amateur fishing teams competing for the biggest prize in freshwater fishing next month.
Bass Pro Shops last week announced a first-of-its-kind amateur team tournament with a total guaranteed purse of $4.3 million.

Registration for the Lake Mead qualifying event will open Wednesday, February 10 for 24 hours only at basspro.com/usopen, where interested anglers can also find more details about the tournament and a full list of rules.
With proceeds benefiting conservation and the future of fishing, the event is being created exclusively for amateurs including serious weekend tournament anglers, parents, grandparents, and youngsters giving everyday anglers, friends, and families the chance to win big!
The top 40 finishers at the Lake Mead regional qualifier will be eligible to fish the National Championship this fall at Big Cedar Lodge on famed Table Rock Lake in Missouri. The National Championship will be an internationally broadcast and feature 350 two-person teams competing for the ultimate $1 million prize, the largest payout in fishing tournament history.
