Carl's Donuts has been in Las Vegas since 1966 but shut down their retail space in the '90s to focus on wholesale.

About 20 years later, they're getting back into retail with a new location at 3170 East Sunset Road, near Eastern Avenue.

"It seems like donuts are having their moment, and we've always missed being in the retail world," said Amber Ramsay, COO of Carl's Donuts and granddaughter of founders Carl and Lyn Sanders. "We've had so many customers calling us saying, 'We miss you, you're a Vegas staple.'"

The retail space, which held its Grand Opening celebration on April 18, is simple. Old newspapers can be found hanging from one of the walls, as well as photos of Carl and Lyn Sanders.

Donuts and pastries take center stage at the shop. And much like the rest of the decor, Carl's opts to keep things straightforward.

“We want to bring back the simple elegance and nostalgia of a classic donut,” said Ramsay. “We’re not about making the trendiest, most over-the-top donut, we’re about focusing on quality to let the donut speak for itself.”

The retail space is currently open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. seven days a week. In the future, Ramsay wants to host community events within the store such as open mic nights, food truck meetups, and more.
