One of the many Vegas-area events include the 9th annual Chinese New Year in the Desert celebration.

A portion of the party took place Saturday morning in downtown Las Vegas. The celebration overall has been named one of the eight great events to celebrate the new year in the US and Canada by Forbesmagazine.

Saturday morning's festivities included an opening ceremony at City Hall, a parade down Main Street, along with a party featuring traditional Chinese music and dancing in the Arts District.

Further Chinese New Year events are planned throughout the weekend.
