LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Here are 13 things to do this week for Jan. 11-17 around the Las Vegas valley:
1. Backstage Bar & Billiards is hosting the Medusa Underground Film Festival on Jan. 11. The festival celebrates women and will showcase strange and unusual films created by women.
2. The Dirty are performing Jan. 11 at Topgolf. The Dirty performs high-energy soul music by artists such as Otis Redding, Wison Picket, Charles Bradley and Sam and Dave.
3. Henderson Fire Department is inviting residents to an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 12 at Henderson Fire Station No. 81. Meet your local firefighters, check out the fire trucks and firefighting equipment and more.
4. The music of John Williams will be featured Jan. 12 at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Williams has created music for "Star Wars," "Close Encounters," "Jurassic Park," "Harry Potter" and more.
5. The Reptilian National Expo is happening Jan. 12 and 13 at Texas Station. There will be thousands of reptiles, amphibians, arachnids and supplies.
6. Zoology 2019 kicks off Jan. 12 at Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. The 3-part series will bring some of the best artists in dance music to the stage. A 20,000-square-foot festival-style tent will be transformed into a wildlife kingdom.
7. Disney on Ice presents "Dare to Dream" through Jan. 13 at the Thomas & Mack Center. The show features 5 Disney heroines -- Moana, Anna, Rapunzel, Belle and Cinderella.
8. E String Karaoke invites kids to sing karaoke the second Sunday of every month from 2 to 5 p.m. E String is located on West Sunset Road in Henderson.
9. Echo & Rig at Tivoli Village is hosting artist/author/speaker Justin Bua's "Art For the People" featuring Castro Art on Jan. 12. There will be original paintings, sketches and prints by CastroART and Bua.
10. The 11th annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Candlelight Vigil is happening Jan. 12 at Dr. King's statues, 2428 N. Martin Luther King Blvd. There will be poetry, music and more and the annual remembrance event.
11. Evenflow is performing Jan. 13 in Ravello Lounge at M Resort hotel-casino. Evenflow covers the top rock 'n' roll hits from the '70s, '80s and '90s and present.
12. Global Winter Wonderland at the Rio is offering free admission to teachers and school staff on Jan. 13. Accompanying family members will receive a 50 percent discount. Larger-than-life lanterns, carnival rides, food, live entertainment and more.
13. The Majestic Repertory Theatre kicks off its Spring season with "Spring Awakening," described as an "electrifying rock musical," on Jan. 17. The play depicts a dozen young people making their way through the thrilling, complicated and mysterious time of sexual awakening.
