13 Things To Do This Week In Las Vegas For Dec. 14-20

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Here is a list of 13 things to do around the Las Vegas valley for the week of Dec. 14 through 20:

1. Veteran Las Vegas musicians who played with iconic Las Vegas headliners and who may have crossed paths with the mobsters who once ran this town will be featured in "Music in the Mob Era: The Glory Days of Live Music on the Strip" in The Underground at the Mob Museum on Dec. 14.

2. The Ariat World Series of Team Roping is happening through Sunday at the South Point. The best team ropers in the country will be competing. While you are there, you can also check out the Cinch Western Gift Show.

3. A special Farm to Table Dinner is happening Dec. 14 and 15 at Rooster Boy Cafe. The festive family-style feast will benefit Kerry Clasby, The Intuitive Forager, whose Malibu farm was severely damaged by the Woolsey Fire last month. Several popular restaurants will be participating.

4. The Rhyolite Sound is performing with The All-Togethers at 172 inside the Rio on Dec. 14. The Rhyolite Sound describes itself as a "rousting roster of pickers, kickers and stompers" and "purveyors of desert honkey tonk." 172 is a new live music club inside the Rio hotel-casino.

5. Relive your youth at the new Rock & Rollers in the Commercial Center. In addition to a roller skating rink, there is comfort food, classic cocktails and live music.

6. The 5th annual Hooey Party is happening Dec. 14 at Brooklyn Bowl. Country legend Dwight Yoakam is the featured performer. Fort Worth's Red Shahan will also perform.

7. Country singer Gary Allan is back for the fourth year in a row during National Finals Rodeo at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. He'll be performing Dec. 14 and 15.

8. Jeff Mix and the Songhearts are bringing their rocking Americana sound to the Huntridge Tavern on Dec. 15. They will be joined by The Unwieldies, a 4-piece, acoustic, alt-country/folk band.

9. Once again,Sam's Town has transformed its Mystic Falls Park into a winter wonderland. A nine-minute laser light show happens every hour between 5 and 10 p.m. Santa is available between 4 and 8:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and noon to 8:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

10. Critical Care Comics is hosting the Heroes and Villains Ball on Dec. 15 at The Nerd on Fremont Street. There will be a costume contest, silent auction, raffle, a DJ and dancing.

11. Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary is hosting Caroling with the Critters on Dec. 16. There will also be crafts, an ugly holiday sweater contest, hot cocoa and popcorn and more.

12. The Sand Dollar will host a benefit for The Center on Dec. 16. There will be performances by The Moonshiners and Rustyn Vaughn Lee. Craft cocktail bar for wristband holders.

13. The Las Vegas Natural History Museum is hosting its annual "December to Remember" through Jan. 6. A variety of displays and special programs bring insight and understanding to diverse cultural traditions.
