Ten Southern Nevada nonprofits are recipients of more than $5 million thanks late Las Vegas businessman and veteran Charles Tarr.
Before Tarr passed away in 1999, he set up a trust that would continue his legacy -- 60% of his estate would go to various charities and nonprofits.
In 2000, the Nevada Community Foundation became responsible for the trust. Over the years, the fund has grown to more than $5 million.
Tarr has been described as an equal opportunity giver. Each nonprofit received at least $200,000.
