Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Convention, gave the final speech at the second day of the RNC, where she recalled the assassination attempt against Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
"Last Saturday was a jarring reminder that we as Americans must remember there is more that unites us than divides us. We all want this country to be great even if we don't always agree on the best way of doing that."
Lara Trump, who is the daughter-in-law of Donald Trump, became co-chair of the RNC with North Carolina GOP leader Michael Watley in March of 2024. They replaced former RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, who was forced out after her relationship with Trump soured.
Since then, Lara Trump has spearheaded new fundraising for Trump's campaign and aligned the GOP and the Trump campaign more closely.
"My No. 1 goal is making sure that Donald Trump is the 47th president," she told The Associated Press in May.

On Tuesday she highlighted the first Trump administration's border security, employment, energy security and foreign policy priorities.
"You cannot deny that you were better off when Donald Trump was in office," she said.
She said Trump's opponents would raise the idea of a second Trump term as something to be avoided.
"You don't have to imagine what it could be like," she said. "All you have to do is remember what it was like."
"Tonight I come to you not as the co-chair of the RNC, not as the daughter-in-law of the candidate. Tonight I come to you as a mom, and as a citizen of this country," she told convention attendees. "For those of you watching who have never voted for Donald Trump, I know what the media and his political opponents have tried to tell you about this man. Believe me, I have seen and heard it all. But I have also seen the truth. I am proud to know Donald Trump, to campaign for him, to vote for him and to raise his grandchildren. He will do what is necessary to protect you, protect your family and protect this country."
