Pickle aficionados have come up with many creative ways to take their favorite food out of the jar and turn it into something unexpected and yummy. You can now find spicy pickle-flavored whiskey, pickle Doritos and even dill pickle hummus. So, it should come as no surprise to find other tasty ways for pickle-lovers to indulge in their favorite flavors.

It turns out there’s a condiment that combines the freshness of salsa with the crunch and taste of pickles. Grillo’s Pickle De Gallo is not only a fun play on the traditional name but transforms the usual pico de gallo recipe into something beyond just an ordinary dip.

According to the manufacturer, the Pickle de Gallo is a “classic dill recipe with fresh bell peppers and onions in the mix.” In fact, there are only seven ingredients listed on the condiment: cucumbers, brine (water, distilled white vinegar, salt), yellow onion, red bell pepper and garlic. And, with only 5 calories per 2-tablespoon serving, it’s a healthy alternative to other dips you might dunk your chips or pita bread into at a party or on game day.

But there’s no reason to limit yourself to just chips and dip with the Pickle de Gallo. Grillo’s recommends using the condiment as a way to give other favorite foods a major flavor punch. The company recently shared a photo of its Pickle de Gallo dressing a hot dog that looked pretty darned tasty:

In addition to working well on whatever you’d usually add relish to, we think it could even been good on top of pizza — after all, one restaurant already makes a pickle pizza pie.

Like spice? Grillo’s Pickle de Gallo comes in three varieties: mild, medium and hot. So, you can keep your meal chill or really heat it up.

If you can’t wait to get your hands on a container (or two), you can pick it up at Whole Foods, Target, Kroger, Meijer or through Instacart, Peapod or Amazon Fresh. Grillo’s Where To Buy website will tell you where to track down the Pickle de Gallo where you live.

Are you ready to say adios to pico de gallo and hello to pickle de gallo?
