Young nurse helps save passenger on flight from Las Vegas

A nurse who has been on the job for less than a year is being called a hero for saving a woman's life on a flight from Las Vegas.

22-year-old Courtney Donlon was flying home to New Jersey when a passenger started showing symptoms of a heart attack.

She asked fellow passengers on the flight to Newark for aspirin and oxygen and a defibrillator to keep the patient stable, according to WABC.

Donlon also told the pilot the passenger needed more medical attention than the nurse could give her and asked to him to land the plane.

"They told me that she was feeling excruciating pain of her left arm and over into the back, and for them they weren't sure what that meant," Donlon said. "I myself felt confident in what I was doing. I mean, their full trust was in me."

The passenger was hospitalized and is now recovering.
